March 11 – 17, 2010
Welcome to The Journey West County Campus’ Weekly Update. This blog is here to keep you in the loop on some of the life that’s taking place at our campus.
Daylight Savings Reminder! Don’t forget to set your clocks FORWARD one hour this Saturday night, March 13.
We are pleased to announce that we have received approval for our West County parking addition at Manchester Baptist Church. Construction will begin very soon. Please remember to pray for the progress of remodeling that facility as well as our search for a Campus Pastor. More updates will be posted soon!
Extra Set-up and Tear-down volunteers needed Sunday mornings in March and April! The days are getting longer and the Easter season is fast approaching. For many, that means a nice relaxing getaway to renew your spirits. At the same time, the service needs remain the same for these final months of Set-up and Tear-down at West County. To help cover these needs we would like to extend a special invitation to everyone to come early or stay late and join our team in this energetic activity. Ask a friend to join you in trying this for a month or two. Email infoWC@journeyon.net for more info.
Join us at our Passion Week services to remember the week that Jesus was betrayed and died (childcare not offered):
Maundy Thursday – April 1, 7 PM at Hanley Road
Good Friday – April 2, 5:30 & 7 PM at Tower Grove
West County Easter Service: Celebrate the resurrection of Jesus with us on Sunday, April 4 at our regular 10 AM service time.
THEOLOGY AT THE BOTTLEWORKS: Have a good conversation on important issues with people both inside and outside of Christianity. This month’s topic is “What the “Best Pictures” Say About Us”, discussing this year’s Oscar nominees and their significance in reflecting or making culture. Are we making movies or are movies making us? Join us Wednesday, March 17, 7 PM at Schlafly Bottleworks. More info at www.midrashstl.com.
Midrash Movies: Midrash presents a public screening of the local film, “Game of the Year”. This film was winner of an award at the St Louis Film Festival for a St. Louis-related film of honesty and artistry that portrays the need, or hope, for reconciliation and redemption. This sly mockumentary is funny, quotable and surprisingly deep. Q&A with the director after the film. Luminary Center for the Arts, this Friday, March 19 at 7 PM. Admission is $3 at the door. For more info, visit www.midrashstl.com.
How are the people of God meant to be a part of their city’s restoration? Join Mission: St. Louis at a forum designed to take another look into our neighborhoods, the Bible, and how you fit into the picture. Re[Frame]. Explore the intersection of community, theology, and mission on Saturday, March 27, from 9 AM until noon at The Luminary, 4900 Reber Place. Register at www.missionstl.org.
Community Easter Egg Hunt: On Saturday, April 3 we will be in Tower Grove Park at the Sons of Rest Pavilion from 10 AM till noon. This is a great opportunity to bring your neighbors, family and friends as we reach out to our community. Crawlers through Fifth Grade are invited to a fun morning of egg hunting, crafts, games and the Easter Bunny! This year we plan to stuff over 10,000 eggs. You can donate colorful plastic eggs in the Journey Kids Lobby. Also, we need volunteers before, during and after this event. We need help with children’s activities, outreach, set up/tear down, filling and hiding eggs! If you are interested in helping, please email Jeff Hutchings at jhutchings@journeyon.net.
If you need additional assistance in getting involved at The Journey West County or have questions, you can contact the West County Campus Administrator, Nancy Peterman, at infoWC@journeyon.net and she will be glad to help you!
