Metro East Weekly Update 2.12.10

This Week

February 12 – 19, 2010

Welcome to The Journey Metro East Campus’ Weekly Update. This blog is here to keep you in the loop on some of the life that’s taking place at our campus.

Announcements

We need more help with childcare for the Cougar Village Women’s Bible Study. We have a few kids coming with special needs who require one on one attention. We also need people to help with general activities and clean up afterwards. Childcare volunteers serve at the FRC from 6:15-7:45PM on Thursdays. To help out, please email Jesse at jesse.korns@missionstl.org.

Interested in becoming a member? Registration for Gospel Class is now open! This is a five-week course on the basic doctrine of our church and the beginning of the process to become a member of The Journey. The class will begin the week of February 21; for more information about the class schedule, stop by Connection Point. Registration is available here. If you have additional questions, please email infoME@journeyon.net.

Current Members, as part of the Engage movement, we will soon begin a process of asking every current Journey member to re-up their membership commitment. More information will be made available soon. If you are unsure of your current membership status, please contact your campus administrator at infoME@journeyon.net.

Books for the upcoming Foundations sermon series are on sale now! This book will be used by Gospel Class and Community Group Participants as well. Books cost $5 and will be sold after services at all campuses.

If you’re interested in getting more involved at The Journey Metro East or if you’d like to grab a cup of coffee with Steve, our campus pastor, please email us at infoME@journeyon.net.

Did you miss out on starting the plan to read the Bible? It is not too late! You can find the Engage Scripture Bible Reading Plan and many other resources here at journeyon.net/engage. Check it out today!

Upcoming Events

The Journey’s four campuses will be uniting for an all-church Worship Night tonight – February 12. Please join us at the Tower Grove Campus for an extended time of shared prayer and song. Registration for childcare is now closed.

Please join us for an open house reception in honor of Pastor Steve Miller and his family this Monday, February 15 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM in the Luminary basement on the Tower Grove Campus. Come spend some time with the Millers as we send them off on their new ad- venture in Kansas City. You can read more about what the Miller’s will be doing in Kansas City and watch a video of Pastor Steve and Pastor Darrin telling the story here.

Theology at the Bottleworks: Discuss important issues of our day with people both inside and outside of Christianity. This month’s topic is “God or No God?” Believers and nonbelievers in deity are getting more strident on the oldest and hardest question there is. Who’s right or wrong, on what, and does it matter? What’s at stake in the God Wars? Join us on Wednesday, Feb 17 at 7 PM at Schlafly Bottleworks. For more info, visit www.midrashstl.com

If you need additional assistance in getting involved at The Journey Metro East please contact the Metro East Campus Administrator and she will be glad to help. You can reach her by email at infoME@journeyon.net.
