At The Journey, we take membership seriously. We are often asked why we have a membership class and why it runs for so long, and our answer is simple: we want people to know what they’re getting into. For us, membership isn’t about names on a roster or numbers to compare with other churches. Membership at The Journey is about Loving God, Connecting People and Transforming the World. We’re not looking for members who just call The Journey their home (although we’re happy when they do); we’re looking for members who are ready to be on mission with us, to lead and serve both inside the church and out.

We don’t want people to think of The Gospel class as merely the gateway to membership at The Journey, although it is that. The purpose of the class is to equip and train people with what they’ll need to know as they join our mission. We also want to see people engaging with our members’ community in deeper ways as we study theology and the church together. As a potential member, the Gospel Class is a great opportunity for you to dig into The Journey’s key beliefs, ask questions, and decide if The Journey is not only a place that you can call home, but also a place that you can link arms with to Love God, Connect People, and Transform the World.

Gospel Class 101 meets for 5 weeks on Wednesdays nights at Tower Grove Campus. Gospel Class 201 is a one-day extended session held on a Saturday at the end of the semester. A detailed schedule with specific dates will be given to those who register for the class.

This class is designed for people who:

• Want to understand the core values of The Journey and pursue membership
• Have grasped the meaning of the gospel and the core elements of following Jesus
• Struggle with a changing value system and assurance of salvation
• Are growing in intimacy with God through prayer and Bible study
• Desire to have a deepening relationship with other followers in a local church
• Have come under the authority of Biblical values

• Are experiencing freedom over self defeating habits
