Here at The Journey, we hold community as one of our core values. God exists in eternal community and has designed us to enjoy and live life in community with others. In a world that pushes us toward isolation, we realize one of our greatest needs is community. We need a place where we can know and be known, love and be loved, and serve and be served.
We believe one of The Journey’s greatest strengths is in connecting, not just at Sunday services, but throughout the week. A major way this happens at The Journey Metro East Campus is through Community Groups.
So, what is a Community Group?
A Community Group is a group of 8-15 people who gather weekly for authentic, life-sharing, learning community. Every week from September through May, Community Groups gather in homes throughout the Metro East area to discuss relevant teachings from the weekly sermons and apply them to their lives.
The groups are a place where people can get to know others well, share life, be on mission, help each other grow spiritually, study and apply the gospel to their lives, pray with one another, and celebrate God’s grace together. All groups study the Bible together and most use a sermon-discussion format.
These groups are led by trained leaders who want to help connect people to Biblical truth and community and prayerfully move them toward spiritual maturity. We see our groups as a place where people can grow in their relationship with Christ, share life together, and positively impact the community in which they live.
Who is it designed for?
Community Groups are designed for Journey members and their friends. We encourage people new to the Journey to enter an Equip Group before they enter a Community Group because Equip Groups lay a good foundation for more in-depth community, spiritual growth and mission.
