Paul’s letter to the Romans is one of the most important theological documents ever written. Romans contains the most thorough biblical treatment of key doctrinal truths – justification, sanctification, adoption, judgment, and identification with Christ. While all of Scripture is inspired by God, this particular letter has had more influence than any other book in the Bible for shaping the theology of the church. The Church Father Augustine was converted while reading Romans. Martin Luther launched the Reformation by quoting Romans 1:17, “The righteous shall live by faith.” As scholar Warren Wiersbe states in his Expository Outlines of the New Testament, “If a Bible student wishes to master any one book of the Bible, let it be Romans! An understanding of this book is a key to unlocking the entire Word of God.”
