Questions

  • What is your favorite bible verse?
Philippians 3:10-11. "I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings becoming like him in his death , and so somehow to attain to the resurrection from the dead." This verse says it all.
  • What is following Jesus like these days?
For the first time in my Christian life I am really learning to understand and live in grace. I spent a lot of my life living under the legalism/morals of the "do better, be better" teaching that was prevalent in the 80's. Every day I understand the gospel in new ways... that I am totally broken, but perfectly and completely loved. There isn't anything in me that can make me any "more acceptable" in God's eyes. It is about living a life of surrender not of behavior modification. I have to daily remind myself of these truths and long to live them out in my life.
  • How long have you been at The Journey?
I have been at the Journey since December of 2002, just 2 months after launch.
  • What ministry are you involved in?
I am the Director of Community which means I oversee the network of Community Group Directors at all the campuses and am working on making the Journey a place where people can easily connect to community. As the church has gotten larger, we are working to make it feel "smaller" and more welcoming!
  • What is hard and/or good about serving at The Journey?
Hard: People's heartaches Good: People in community
