Background

  • Family
My husband, Rusty, and I have been married for 35 years! We have raised Kelley, David and Jesse...all adults now writing their own life stories! The most fun part of our family is being "Mimi" to our three grandchildren, Kelton, Lena and Ava and a mother- in- law to David's wife, Emily!

Questions

  • What is your favorite bible verse?
"Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality." Romans 12: 9-13
  • What is following Jesus like these days?
“The Kingdom is made up not of those who have done the most but those who know the most what has been done for them.” - Tim Keller This central understanding of the Gospel has turned my theology upside down. For too many years my identity as a Christian was "how good am I" and "how much am I doing" all of course, in the name of Christ. Following Jesus for me these days is radically different from what I have known and it's radically refreshing.
  • What is hard and/or good about serving at The Journey?
The hard part of being a member of The Journey staff is the bottomless pit of work that can and needs to be done. I find it difficult prioritizing my life around the constant pull of church work. The good part is "newness"....new friendships, new culture, new theology (new to me), new freedoms in Christ. If you want to know what is best? It's serving and being on mission with my husband, Rusty, at The Journey, as he serves as the Tower Grove Campus Pastor. It's a passion come true for us to be working together in ministry!

So, Tell Me...

  • What have you done that others would not have expected, to look at you? As a celebration of my 50th and 51st birthday, I climbed Camelback Mountain in Scottsdale, Arizona. The summit of Camelback Mountain is only 2,704 feet but that was high enough for this "old gray mare".
  • What is your most memorable travel experience? I traveled with my son, Jesse, to Sri Lanka after the Tsunami in 2004. The travel and the work was grueling but most rewarding as we were able to preach the Gospel without speaking a word!
