Cristen and I got married on June 1, 2002 and we've had a child in every odd year since. Alec (2003), Isaiah (2005), Jara (2007), and Luke (2009).
Questions
What is following Jesus like these days?
It's a constant battle to trust God's goodness and love His sovereignty. I'm just starting to believe for real that God delights in me because of Jesus, and that the point of life is to delight in Him like He does in me. Also, I'm learning how little I focus on the cross, and how much I need to. I've got a lot to learn, but God is gracious and I know He's doing more than I can even see.
How long have you been at The Journey?
My family started coming to the Journey in 2006, I think. Now we're out at the Metro East campus, which is more my speed than Tower Grove because there's corn fields around, and I'm still kind of a country boy at heart.
What ministry are you involved in?
My official task is to make sure the Sunday service happens and runs smoothly, and my favorite part is getting to do life with the men at our campus. God has given us some amazing young guys, and it's so cool to do life together and see each other get the gospel more and more.

So, Tell Me...
What is your vision for The Journey? My hope for The Journey is that the gospel of the glory of Christ will remain the center-piece of all we do. It's so easy to get distracted, and it's easy to forget what matters most in the midst of all the good stuff that's going on. Only God can keep that vision strong and clear, so my prayer is that He will continue to satisfy us with His strength and beauty and make us hungry for more of Him.
What is your goal as a parent? I believe my kids' most clear understanding of God is what they see in me. So my goal as a parent is to tell the truth about Jesus to my kids in everything from how I pursue my wife to how I discipline them and why. I want our home to be a place of grace and delight in one another, because that's the relationship we have with God.
